Cabra CC/ Educate Together Partnership - (The Journey So Far (December 2019)

On the 11th of September 2019 the City of Dublin ETB and Educate Together agreed to become patron partners of Cabra Community College from September 2020. From the start of the 2020/21 school year our school will operate under the Educate Together ethos and will provide the highest quality, co-educational, equality-based educational experience for our local community.

The signing of this agreement signaled the beginning of a two year transition process which is being overseen by a Change Management Steering Committee. This group will meet frequently throughout the two years of the transition process. An update from the Committee will be issued before Christmas 2019.

To assist in the transition to a joint patronage model, Dr.Shivaun O’Brien from the Centre for Evaluations, Quality and Inspections in DCU is currently facilitating an Ethos Audit of Cabra Community College. The aim of this audit is to explore the Educate Together Ethos and assess if current practice in Cabra CC reflects this ethos.

Students, Parents and Staff are currently completing surveys focusing on the following areas:

  • Equality
  • Learner Centred
  • Teaching and Learning
  • Democratic Structures
  • Participation
  • Sustainable Practice

The results of the surveys will be collated, and an Action Plan will be devised that will address strengths and gaps in our current provision.
