The management, staff and students of Cabra Community College have committed to applying for the colleges first Green flag in November 2014.
This flag will involve the whole college community reducing the amount of waste that will be sent to landfill. A Green School Committee has formed and planned the colleges approach to this task. As part of the plan first year students undertook a litter survey of the college and a “spring clean “of the grounds, and removed graffiti as part of An Taisces’ National Spring Clean 2014. First Year students carried out a curriculum project on Madagascar, global warming, climate change and recycling with their Tutor Ms Mc Mahon.
They made connections with a school in Madagascar who recycle quite an amount of waste card and materials to use in their school. In September 2014 the whole college community will be implementing more actions from the Green School Plan to make Cabra Community College proactive Reducing, Reusing and Recycling waste. Well done to all involved in this worthwhile work and contributing to saving planet earth.
