The Adult and the Mainstream Student Councils were busy this year in the days leading up to the Easter holidays at Cabra Community College. Both Councils had made a commitment to support a charity this academic year. They agreed that this charity would be Barnardos an organisation that works with children.
As it was Easter students and staff across the school were asked to support this charity by donating a chocolate Easter egg. These eggs would be donated on to Barnardos to be distributed to children in Dublin. So over the days leading up to the 24th March a large collection of chocolate eggs, bunnies and sweets appeared under an Easter tree in the school entrance hall. The tree was created by staff and students in the Art Department. The Leaving Certificate Applied class organised an Easter shop as part of an Enterprise Assignment and donated some of their profits towards the good cause. Finally on the last day of term the eggs were delivered to Barnardos who then distributed them to children in their Milbrook Project and to children of parents attending their Teen Parents Support Programme. Well done to all involved.
