Leaving Certificate Programme
The Leaving Certificate programme offers students a broad and balanced education while allowing for some specialisation. The certificate is used for the purposes of selection into further education, employment, training and higher education.
Cabra Community College offers the following subjects at Leaving Certificate Level (Higher and Ordinary): English, Irish, Mathematics, French, Biology, Technology, Home Economics, History, Geography, Business and Art
Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA) Programme
The Leaving Certificate Applied is a distinct, self-contained two-year Leaving Certificate programme aimed at preparing students for adult and working life.
The programme sets out to recognise the talents of all students and to provide opportunities for developing personal responsibility, self-esteem and self-knowledge. The programme focuses on the talents of each student and helps students apply what they learn to the real world.
The two-year programme consists of four half-year blocks called sessions. Achievements are credited in each session.
The Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA) Programme is made up of a number of modules grouped under three headings: General Education, Vocational Education and Vocational Preparation. Graduates of the LCA can progress to an approved Further Education award and can become eligible for admission to some third level courses.
